Earlier this year we had the pleasure of working with the Kramer family who had bought a new construction in the Lake Saint Louis area and were looking for a flooring and tiles contractor to help them create a stylish and family friendly kitchen. The Kramers had been wanting to move to Lake Saint Louis for a long time and were very excited when they finally found the perfect spot to settle down with their three kids and two dogs.
Having the opportunity to create your dream kitchen is in deed a dream-come-true for many people but it can also be very time consuming; which colors do you pick, how do you choose the tiles (glass tiles vs ceramic vs porcelain, etc), or flooring (hardwood, laminate, tiles), and how about the general color palette, the various patterns and textures, how will the kitchen blend with the rest of the house, and so forth. So when the Kramers contacted Barefoot Flooring for help we were very excited to be part of this project.
First we sat down with Mr. and Mrs. Kramer to understand their needs and the type of lifestyle they live. Being an active family with 3 kids and pets they wanted floors that are durable, family friendly as well as stylish without breaking the bank. With that information in mind we immediately suggested laminate flooring which offers great looks, durability, affordable pricing and is made to stand up to high traffic areas. Perfect for homes with kids and pets! And laminate is versatile too – it can be installed in any room in your home, where you want the beauty of hardwood but without the cost. The Kramers decided to use the Reclaime Collection from Quickstep in Heathered Oak which features the visual charm of time-worn, reclaimed hardwood floors consisting of planks reminiscent of vintage wood.
As for kitchen tiles the family wanted a contemporary and modern look with elegance and style to blend with the rest of the house and its decor. John with Barefoot Flooring showed the family many options. For instance ceramic tiles, which has a wide selection of colors, textures, and sizes in rustic, refined, and casual looks, is perfect for all kinds of interior applications. Or porcelain, which is one of the hardest-working tile options available with its dense material that is highly water resistant and withstands exposure to freezing and thawing. Or get inspired with fashionable patterns, mosaics, and varied textures like glass, stone, and metal to create your own look. The opportunities and designs seem endless but finally the Kramers decided to use 2×8 glass tiles from AlysEdwards Tile & Stone Collection which has an eclectic and modern look.
And with the white shaker cabinets and stainless steel appliances the laminate floors and glass tiles blend perfectly well together in this stylish kitchen. Lastly the addition of glamorous chandeliers, a modern wall mounted kitchen range hood, and the Kramers’ own personal touch of style the whole room came together beautifully!
